Florida’s quickly becoming the new epicenter of rap for the new age. Just look at the enormously long list of talent to emerge from the state in recent years such as Smokepurrp, Lil Pump, Kodak Black, and Robb Bank$. Denzel Curry’s been a fixture of the scene for the better of seven years, releasing some of the most brutally honest, aesthetically off-kilter music in sporadic doses. The 23-year-old rapper was named to XXL’s Freshman 2016 class and has been on the verge of blowing for a couple of years now. It looks like his new album TA1300 will be what pushes him over the edge. The three-part opus is now available everywhere.
Split into three distinct acts, “Light,” ” Gray,” and “Dark,” TA1300 is an explorative, introspective journey that peruses through the darkest of the soul’s caverns as well as some hard to swallow topics, two of the most prominent being molestation and depression. On the flip side, it does cover the arena surrounding fame and the chaotic energy that it entails. With seven features, with names such as GoldLink and J.I.D. appearing in the album’s credits, it looks to be a star-studded affair that’ll finally enable Curry to get the flowers while he can still smell them.
