This past weekend Complex Magazine took over the city of Long Beach with their second annual ComplexCon.
ComplexCon is designed to let culture thrive by bringing together all your favorite brands, artists, and influencers. After last year, there was talk about whether or not Complex would be able to pull off the ultimate powerhouse, pop-culture experience that they imagined.
And let’s say this — Complex did just that.
Year two was a huge step in the right direction and proves that ComplexCon will only get bigger and better. As you experienced the convention, you could feel all the collaborative energy weaved into a maze of pop-ups, culture, art, music, and even food.
Let 1am show you around as we present our top 10 favorite ComplexCon booths:
1.Old Spice Puppy Party
What better way to win over a crowd than with puppies? At this booth, convention-goers got to play with puppies, take polaroids with puppies, and even chat with Cam’ron.
2. Rip N Dip
Walk through a psychedelic wonderland as Rip N Dip decorates their inflatable booth with funky tie-die and neon mushrooms making it a far out, trippy retail experience.
3. Pink Dolphin Motorsports
Pink Dolphin’s installation transported you to a race track with it’s very own customized Ferrari and a motorsports inspired capsule. You even had the chance to try your luck at winning a Rolex out of an arcade crane machine.
4. 40s & Shorties
40’s & Shorties brings “I’m a Hustler, baby” to life with their vintage playa’ paradise in spirit of their Hustler Magazine collaboration.
Rokit brings their A-game with a basketball court mid-booth! To match, they exclusively dropped their Under Armour Basketball collection that included a Rokit basketball, layup leggings, a sniper sleeve, and more.
Life’s a garden and Pleasures digs it. By creating a moody flower shrub art installation, Pleasures reminds us that life is beautiful but the only thing promised is death.
7. Diamond Supply Co.
Diamond surprised long-time fans by bringing back the Tiffany Dunks in a new way. This time, they used the sneaker to create the ultimate skateramp. A few lucky attendees even had the chance to win a pair of their own.
It only makes sense that Bodega would bring an actual bodega art installation to ComplexCon and that’s exactly what they did. Along with the homey bodega experience, they offered a variety of zines, exclusive drops, a Metro Boomin pop-up, a Cee-Lo tournament, free tattoos, and even a salon that offered free hair braiding and nail art.
With it’s eye-catching, monumental display of neon lights, you already know it was lit. PUMA pulled up again being the official footwear sponsor of ComplexCon for the second year in a row. This time around, they celebrated the 50th anniversary of the PUMA suede. Even Big Sean stopped by the booth to honor the suede by revealing his very own PUMA suede sneaker. PUMA didn’t stop just there though, they kept the momentum going with a mentor experience that included Emory Jones, Gunner Stahl, Justine Skye, Thomas Falcone, and our very own, YesJulz.
